Roger Hoelscher, 54, of Robinson, died Monday January 8, 2024 in a Waco Hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia. Rev. Darrell Kostiha will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westphalia.

Roger was born September 10, 1969 in Rosebud to Edgar and Beatrice Hoelscher. He graduated from Rosebud-Lott High School in 1988. In 1988 he won the gold medal in UIL Mathematics and set a state record while winning the gold medal in the two mile run. He attended Baylor University on a cross country scholarship and later transferred to Mary-Hardin Baylor where he played basketball and graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Physical Education. He taught Math and coached track and basketball at Rosebud-Lott High School for 30 years and was working in the same capacity at the time of his death for Chilton ISD.

He was preceded in death by his brother Alan Hoelscher.

He is survived by his children, Noah Hoelscher of Robinson and Madelynn Hoelscher of Gladewater, two brothers, Donnie Hoelscher of Temple and Dennis Hoelscher and wife Donna of Hewitt, three sisters, Ann Saur and husband Phil of Comfort, Katherine Asher and husband Trey of Palestine and Nancy Murray and husband Roddy of Austin. He is also survived by his special friend, Leticia Doskocil of Robinson.

Memorials may be made to Chilton ISD in care of Roger Hoelscher Memorial Scholarship, 905 Durango Avenue, Chilton, TX  76632.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
