Oscar Lee Smart

Oscar Lee Smart, 78, of Rosebud, died Monday, April 30, 2018, in a Temple Hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Rev. Stephen James officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma.

Mr. Smart was born January 3, 1940 in Grant, Oklahoma to Newman and Jeroline Reed Smart. He graduated from Grant High School and Anderson Seminary in Andersonville, South Carolina. He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962. He married Vernie Murrell on September 3, 1959. He was a Baptist Pastor and retired after 29 years in the ministry. He pastored churches in Oklahoma, DeSoto, Kaufman, Garland, and Rosebud. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lott.

He is survived by his wife, Vernie Smart of Rosebud

Two sons, Terry Lee Smart of Willis and Michael R Smart and wife Anabelle of Rosebud.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
