Monroe was born in Cameron, Texas on May 14th, 1944 to Julius and Hilda Lange. He grew up on a farm outside of Rosebud and graduated from Rogers High School. He met the “Love of his life” Ann Lange (Davenport) in 1961 as hurricane Carla hit the Gulf Coast. The couple always joked that the hurricane blew them together. The couple then went on to get married on August 7th,1965
Upon graduating from Rogers High School he went on the get his Bachelors in Education at the University of Mary Harding Baylor being a part of the first graduating class of boys to graduate from UMHB. After beginning his career in Education as a Teacher in Rosebud—he went on to get his Masters from Baylor University. He moved the family to Hearne, Texas in 1975 where he became Business Manager for Hearne ISD until retiring in 2003. Shortly thereafter, he returned back to this job where he then retired for good in 2013 having served 34 years in education.
Monroe accepted Jesus at an early age and he loved serving & leading his Sunday School class at First Baptist-Hearne. He took great pride in preparing and sharing the gospel and so loved his time each Sunday with his class in church.
He is survived by wife of 58 years Ann Lange along with two sons Randy Lange and wife Melissa of Keller and Ricky Lange and wife Erin of Hewitt. He was so incredibly proud of his five Grandchildren Skylar and her husband Conner Wilson, Braden, Colby, Emerson, Harper and great-grandchild Lauryn Wilson.
Visitation Services Dec 19th from 5pm to 7pm at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Funeral Services will proceed Dec 20th –11AM at First Baptist Church—Hearne, TX with a brief visitation from 10AM-10:45AM before service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hearne, TX, 105 W Davis St, Hearne TX, 77859.
