Maybell Lewis, 100, of Belton, formerly of Rosebud, passed away peacefully on Friday March 29, 2024, at a Temple Hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Rev. Don Fulton will officiate. Burial will follow in Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
Maybell was born in Baileyville, Texas to Walter and Zelmer Linder Kelsey. She was one of eight siblings. She attended Lott and Rosebud schools. On June 13, 1941, she was united in marriage to David Thomas Lewis and they had six children. David preceded her in death on December 31, 1976. Maybell dedicated her life to being a loving and caring stay at home mom. She was a faithful housewife, mother and grandmother working very hard farming along side her husband. Later in life, she worked for a family keeping their daughter. She also did babysitting in the Methodist church nursery in Rosebud. Along with babysitting many children, she cleaned many families homes, the funeral home and a beauty shop and she walked to these jobs. She enjoyed spending time with family playing card games and doing word search. She also enjoyed just getting in a car and ride for hours looking at the countryside.
Maybell was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Elmore Kelsey, Johnny Kelsey, Glen Kelsey, R.B. Kelsey, Jessie Kelsey and Homer Kelsey, a sister; Marie McIntosh, granddaughter, Stacey Diane Mulsow, and grandsons; Nathan Lee Sodek and DeWayne Thorpe, and her very best friend Josie DeLeon.
Maybell is survived by and will be deeply missed by her children; Shirley Uptmor of West, Patsy Dorner of Lindale, David (Buddy) Lewis and wife Evelyn of Temple, Sylvia Mulsow and husband Freddie of Waco, Marshall Lewis of Heidenheimer, and Glenda McLerran and husband John of Belton, a nephew; Tommy McIntosh, who she raised and sent to school as one of her own, a great niece Patricia Lantz whom she loved dearly and whom she nicknamed Cricket, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Maybell will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those lives that she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness and devotion will forever be cherished.
