Joe Charles Robinson of Garland, Texas went to be with the Lord Monday, February 5 with family and loved ones around him. A memorial service will be held at Liberty Community Church, 4856 FM 3242, Cameron, Texas on Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 pm followed by interment at the adjacent Liberty Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Randy Robinson and Don Oprea. Joe was born June 29, 1931 at his parents’ farm outside of Cameron, Texas, the son of Charlie and Effie Robinson. He was the middle child of three siblings. Joe was a dedicated and loving husband to his wife Carolyn for over 70 years. He was deeply loved by his four children, their spouses, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his extended family, and a multitude of friends. Joe loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to daily prayer and witnessing of his faith to all he encountered. He loved to attend church, attend school events and church programs for his grandchildren, and share his love for Jesus. He was a talented carpenter and took great joy making furniture for his children and toys for his grandchildren. Joe graduated from Milano High School and attended Westminster College in Tehuacana, Texas, Arlington State College (now the University of Texas at Arlington), Dallas Christian College in Garland and Crozier Tech in Dallas. He joined the US Navy at the age of 20 and served for 10 years in both the active and reserve services. He was a champion of the Navy pistol team and earned many recognitions for his marksmanship. Joe was a dedicated employee of many companies over the years including Chance-Vought, Texas Instruments, Thermoplex Industries, and Door Control Services. He finally retired at the age of 84. Everyone who worked with him was blessed by knowing him. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Frances Gilliland, brother Jimmie Robinson, and grandson James Wann. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Robinson, daughter Donna Reed and husband Steve of Cedar Hill; son Charles Robinson and wife Teresa of Allen; daughter Cathy Ledbetter and husband Tony of Garland, daughter Lea Anne Hatcher and husband Bob of Hurst, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express our appreciation to all the staff of Brookdale Club Hill Senior Living for their loving and compassionate care in Joe’s final months.
