Jane Hoelscher Kosel was born on November 17, 1935 in Westphalia, Texas to Fred and Annie Hoelscher. Jane married Harold Kosel at the Westphalia Church of the Visitation on June 1, 1954. On May 26, 2019, Jane passed away in Katy, Texas at 83 years of age. She is so very loved and missed by her family.
Jane was a loving and devoted mother to her 5 children, and she loved spending time with her 7 grandchildren. Jane’s friends and family enjoyed her friendliness, sweet smile, positive personality, and always encouraging spirit.
Jane met her husband Harold at a church dance, and they continued polka dancing throughout their years together. Since 1989, they enjoyed weekly dances and other activities as members of the Texas Chapter One of the Polka Lovers Klub of America. Jane and Harold attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, where they were members of Happy Hearts. Jane enjoyed taking pictures, especially of family, and spent many hours sharing, displaying, and organizing her pictures. Jane always enjoyed creating and purchasing art to add to her collection displayed throughout her house. Jane also enjoyed spending time gardening, sewing, and playing games and piano with friends and grandchildren.
Jane is survived by her husband, Harold Kosel; her 5 children: James Kosel and his wife Cynthia, John Kosel and his wife Happy, Thomas Kosel, Linda Murphy and her husband Kevin, and Ted Kosel and his wife Jennifer; her 7 grandchildren: C.J., Brady, Hayley, Wesley, Robin, Kyle, and Spencer; Jane’s sister Mary Ann Holmes; and Jane’s brothers: Bernard Hoelscher and Leon Hoelscher.
Jane was proceeded in death by her parents, Fred and Annie Hoelscher; by her sisters Bertha Hoelscher, Lucille Bruggman, Anita Book, Angeline Hoelscher, and Beatrice Hoelscher; and by her brothers Herbert Hoelscher, Erwin Hoelscher, Lewis Hoelscher, Wilfred Hoelscher, and Cecil Hoelscher.

The family will receive friends from 10:15 to 11:00 am on Monday, June 17th at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy, Texas. A funeral mass will take place at 11 am on June 17th at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church; a reception with meal will follow. A final commendation service will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, June 18th at the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia, Texas; a reception will follow.
