James Howard Riley, 77, of Temple, died Friday, August 19, 2022, in a Temple Hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Rev. Don Fulton will officiate. Burial will follow in Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud.
Mr. Riley was born September 25, 1944 in Dallas to Howard James and Dorothy Louise Taylor Riley. He lived most of his life in the Temple area. He married Nora Kelsey on September 19, 1982. He was the owner of West Lake Carpets in Temple. He was a competitive high power and palma shooter with the classification of high master. He was also a competitive pool player.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a great grandson, Jacob Tomme, and two sisters, Edna Wright and Faye Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Nora Riley of Temple, seven sons, Richard S. Riley and wife Carrie and Mark Hayward and wife Barbara, both of Temple, Donny Hayward and wife Tina of Nolanville, Henry B. Perkins of Chugiak, Alaska, Timothy Broome, Richard Broome, and David Robertson all of Dallas, two daughters, DeeDee Cheatam and husband Tobin of Austin, and Donna Loftin and husband Patrick of Eddy, one brother, Mike Zvolanek of Frisco, one sister, Cathy Whitis of Belton, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
