James Daniel Canterberry, 79, of Pearland, formerly of Rosebud and Allen, died Tuesday, March 6 , 2018 in a Sugarland Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018, in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
Dan was born March 30, 1938 in Stamford, Texas to Frank and Jewel Canterberry. He attended school in Rosebud, Texas, Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, Texas, (currently Texas State University), and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Pharmacy.
He had a great love and dedication to the Boy Scouts and the values they instilled. He achieved the highest Scout honor by becoming an Eagle Scout. He possessed strength of character with an unshakable loyalty and generosity to his friends, putting others first before himself. He was a man of his word and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him or meeting him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Kirksey Canterberry, his parents, and brother, Wallace Canterberry.
Surviving family members are: daughter, Sherry Canterberry MacDonald and spouse Kent MacDonald, sons, Greg Canterberry and Steve Canterberry, Dan’s cousin and best friend Steve Galloway, wife, Linda Knapp Canterberry, step-children, David Knapp and Vickie Lloyd. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren.
He will be forever lovingly remembered.
