Irene Tamez, 71 of Rosebud, was called to her heavenly home on January 6, 2023 at a Temple Hospital.. Irene was born on May 7, 1951 to her  loving parents Willie Mae Barnes Johnson and Eugene Johnson in Rosebud, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Ann Catholic Church in Rosebud. Rev. John Kelley will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Irene spent her lifetime in Rosebud, Texas, where she graduated from Rosebud High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully attended Saint Ann Catholic Church in Rosebud.  A dedicated hard worker, she worked as Secretary Assistant at the Rosebud City Hall, and as Supervisor at the Castor’s Manufacture.  She  retired in 2016 from Texas Alternative Education Co-op in Marlin, Texas where she worked in multiple positions as Teacher Assistant, Secretary, and PEIMS Clerk.

She had a loving heart and joyous open home. She enjoyed helping others, traveling to new adventures, estate sales, and raising farm animals.

Irene was preceded in death by her loving parents, Willie Mae Johnson and Eugene Johnson and siblings Sophie Johnson-Hoyle, Billie Ray Johnson, and Charles E. Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her devoted husband of 53 years David Tamez of Rosebud, a joint partner of the Tamez Brothers Public Farm Works and Salvage Business, her only child Erika Jobes (Joseph) of Evans Georgia, five Grandchildren, Joey and Drew (Hailey) Colorado; Connor, Virginia; Maira, Georgia; Kyle of North Carolina.  Six brothers: Robert Gene Johnson (Nancy) of Quanah TX, Leroy Johnson (Pam) of Garland  TX, RL Johnson of Rosebud TX, Donald Ray Johnson of Killeen  TX, Joddy Johnson (Lorri) Rosebud TX, and Barry Johnson (Yan) of Fairfax, VA.  Five Sisters: Bernice Sutphen of Fort Worth TX, Glovis Williams (Kenneth) of Killeen TX, Lois Nettle (Frank) of Arlington TX, Florine Johnson of Temple TX, Linda Guy (Jeff) of Grand Prairie TX.  Host of nieces, Nephews and other relatives and friends.

Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
