Frances Earlene King, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on July 26, 2023 with family by her side. She has been living with Alzheimer disease for the past 7 years and recently diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer. During her fight, she never lost her sense of humor or her zest for life. Frances NEVER met a stranger.
Frances was born in Bellaire, Texas on December 31, 1942 to James Garland (J.G.) and Helen Tawater Crawford. She was the oldest of 8 children. She worked at First State Bank of Bellaire for 18 years where she was known as “Miss Personalized”. She finished her career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Richardson, Texas after 28 years with the company.
Frances was married to the love of her life, Edward King, for 40 years. They enjoyed taking cruises together, playing slot machines and cooking big meals for Sunday dinners with the family. Frances was the proud mother of three daughters She was the adoring grandmother to nine grandkids.
In her free time Frances loved to scrapbook, watch Hallmark moves, read her romance novels and People magazines. She frequently visited the Este Lauder makeup counter for her free gifts and specials. She would never turn down a fried shrimp basket or a bowl of guacamole. Decorating for every holiday and season brought her great joy. She spoiled her grandkids to the fullest and treasured her titles of “Nana, Granny Franny, Aunt Sissy, Fran and of course Mom”. All of her daughter’s friends say the same thing about how she welcomed everyone in her home and loved to entertain.
The last three years Frances was fortunate enough to attend memory care at The Friend’s Place. She was very popular and all the men wanted to dance with her. She was assigned as the “newcomer buddy” and made them feel welcome. She truly believed memory center “saved her life”.
She is survived by her loving husband Ed King, three devoted daughters and son’s-in-law, Cindy and Bryan Moriarity, Jennifer and Mike Kinney and Melissa Feland and nine grandchildren, William, Garrett and Camryn Moriarity, Harrison, Haley and Hayden Kinney, Mackenzie, Makaylyn and Mackenna Feland, as well as her siblings, Robert Crawford, Lynda Soward, Nancy Bertelson and Kenneth Crawford, and a great many cherished nieces and nephews.
