Elmer Hoelscher

Elmer Hoelscher, 94, of Westphalia, died Thursday, January 23, 2025 in a Temple Hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia. Father Darrell Kostiha will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westphalia. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m.

Mr. Hoelscher was born on August 14, 1930 in Westphalia to Gerhard and Bertha Dehmer Hoelscher. He married Geraldine Hering (his high school sweetheart) on November 26, 1953. He served 8 years in the National Guard and worked several jobs until he acquired enough land to farm full time. He loved his family especially the greats and grands. He enjoyed music, dancing, and traveling with friends. He enjoyed attending daily Mass and the breakfast group on Tuesdays. He was very active in the Church of the Visitation and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James Hoelscher, Leonard Hoelscher, Eugene Hoelscher and sister, Dorothy Meek

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Geraldine Hoelscher, his children, Patsy Moeller and husband Manard of Rosebud, Steve Hoelscher and wife Debora of Troy, Sandra Nelius and husband Fritz of Bellville, Connie Petru and husband Perry of Westphalia, Ronnie Hoelscher and wife Vanessa of Westphalia, Doris Rimathe and husband Steve of Madrid, Iowa, Dale Hoelscher and wife Kathy of Westphalia, 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Visitation, Westphalia Historical Society or the charity of your choice.
