Edward Walton Westerman, 88, of Rosebud, passed away Monday, 2/3/25 at Ridgecrest Retirement Center with loved ones by his side.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, 2/15/25, at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson, 111 2nd St. Rosebud, TX 76570. Pastor Jeff Watkins, a longtime family friend and pastor of Cedar Springs Methodist Church, will officiate the services. The burial will take place immediately following at Powers Chapel Cemetery. 

Ed was born December 27, 1936, in Falls County Texas to HF “Buddy” and Laura Westerman. He was the youngest of six. He married the love of his life, Mary Radford, on August 29, 1959. They were married for 62 years. He served 9 years in the US Army, serving both in Germany and deployed to combat in Vietnam. He is a past Worshipful Master Mason of Carolina Lodge #330 in Lott, TX. He retired from the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation. He accepted Christ as his Savior becoming a longtime, dedicated and faithful member of Cedar Springs Methodist Church. He served in different roles in his church alongside his wife, and he was a pillar and a light in the Cedar Springs community. He will be greatly missed. He loved to fish, mow, shred and to be outside.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Laura Westerman; His wife Mary Westerman; and siblings – Kenneth, Robert Lee, Winston “Doodle”, Vivian and HF “Jeff”.

He is survived by his son Dwayne Westerman and wife Lisa of Rosebud, son Dennis Westerman and wife Angela of Lorena, Granddaughter Jordan Benson and husband Eric and great grandchildren Jake and Abby of China Spring, Grandson Aaron Westerman and wife Paige of Fort Worth, Granddaughter Hannah Puente and husband Leo and great grandson Elijah of Rosebud.

Pallbearers are Aaron Westerman, Eric Benson, and Leo Puente. The Honorary Pallbearers are Sammy Radford, Willie Bailey, David Nutt, Jimmy Body, Ricky Rochell, Ottie Rochell, Milt Milstead, Mike Milstead, Terry Westerman, Benny Westerman and Doyle Westerman

The family would like to thank Michael Burleigh, NP, and the Oncology staff at the Temple VA. Thank You for always showing care and compassion to our Dad. A special Thank You to Michael for giving Dad quality of life and truly making a difference in his daily living.

The family would also like to thank Bluebonnet Hospice and Right At Home, Home Health. A special Thank You to his nurse Brittney and to his aide Ashley. You were truly our ears and eyes for his care and attendance. Thank You for your compassion while caring for him.

The family would also like to thank Ridgecrest Retirement Center. Thank You to his nurses Fernando, Becky, Julia and Onetta for caring for our Dad and showing love and compassion. He thought a lot of you all and truly appreciated everything you did for him.
