David Lloyd Skupin


David Lloyd Skupin, 76, of Rosebud, Texas passed away in a Temple
Hospital on Monday, March 25, 2024. David was born April 29, 1947 to
Emil Skupin and Hattie Engbrock Skupin in Rosebud. He attended
Rosebud schools all 12 years and graduated from Rosebud High School in
1965. He graduated from North Texas State University (now University of
North Texas) in 1970 with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Arts. David
married Sharon Lucko Skupin in 1970 at the Ben Arnold United Church of
Christ. He taught Industrial Arts in Galena Park, Texas for two years before
returning to Rosebud where he farmed with his dad, Emil. David raised
cotton, corn, milo, wheat, and cattle. In recent years he changed from row
crops to all cattle with Sharon at his side after she retired from teaching.
David enjoyed his morning coffee with longtime friends at Comalitos and
especially loved playing dominoes with family and close friends. He
seldom missed the Thursday and Sunday golf game at Calvert Country
Club. David served on the BFM Coop Board of Directors. He was
currently serving as a Director of the Calvert Country Club and
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the First United Methodist Church,
Rosebud. He will be remembered for his unassuming nature, quiet
sense of humor, and love of family.
He is predeceased by his parents and brother Robert Skupin. He is
survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Lisa Skupin and wife Jana Wetuski
of Burnet, TX, son James Skupin and wife Amanda of Gambrills, MD,
brother Henry Skupin and wife Anne of Houston, TX, sister-in-law Janis
Skupin of Gainesville, TX and grandchildren Shelby Skupin, Briary Skupin,
John David Skupin, and Andrew Stout. He is also survived by numerous
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation is set for 1:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m.,
on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church (102 East
Main, Rosebud, TX 76570). Arrangements provided by
Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home of Rosebud. Memorials
