Carolyn Sue Dorton

Carolyn Sue “Mimi” Dorton, 82 of Lott, died Thursday January 23, 2025 at her residence. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday February 1, 2025 in the Rosebud Church of Christ. 

Carolyn was born on September 9, 1942 in Blair, Texas to Alfred Charles “Buddy” and Orene “MawMaw” Windham. She graduated from Merkel High School and later obtained her nursing certification from Temple College. Carolyn has been looking forward to seeing loved ones who have gone before, including her parents and her daughter Shea, who we lost back in 1992, along with three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband Gene Hester, one sister, Linda and Ricky Menking and one brother Larry and Gloria Windham, along with three sons, Todd, Kerry and Kevin. Loved ones also include her respective daughters in law, Kori, Carla and Francene, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carolyn was a longtime member of the Rosebud Church of Christ and will always be remembered as a selfless champion for anybody in need of assistance, specifically including twenty-two foster children over the years. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention our appreciation for her sisters in Christ, Janice Ballard, Billie Wieser and Belinda Slovacek.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Keith Horner, Providence Hospice, and caregiver Tameka Lopez.
