Andrew Burton Hazlewood, 95, of League City, formerly of Lott, went to be with his savior on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at his residence. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Chester Springfield officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott.
Mr. Hazlewood was born January 15, 1922 in Lott to John Burton and Suzie Ingram Hazlewood, a modest farming family. He lived in Lott for almost 90 years. He graduated from Lott High School in 1941, where he had been a star halfback for the Lott Lions football team and a 100 yard sprinter on the track team. His athletic prowess served him well as he played for the Army Aircorp football team. He served in Guam during World War II. After the war, Andrew returned to Lott and married Corraine Parker. He retired from farming at age 60, and worked in dispatch for the Falls County Sheriff’s Department. He also drove a school bus, and served on the Lott City Council and the Lott School Board. He was a master mason in the Carolina Lodge # 330 in Lott. He was a Golden Trowel Award recipient , lodge instructor, 60 year pin recipient and former Master of the Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, reciting Edgar Allen Poe poems and singing Willie Nelson songs.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, Paul Drew Hazlewood.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Taylor and husband John of Madisonville

He enjoyed his three grandchildren, Tesa, Trent and Tarah, and his eight great grandchildren, Braxton, Sammy, Addison, Kamden, Luke, Marcus, Charlie, Skylar, and great great grandchild, Thad.

A great man from The Greatest Generation was lost to this world, but within his family, Andrew’s memory will live on.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home
