Virgil Holtman, 93, of Airville, died Thursday, January 5, 2017, in a Temple Nursing Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cyclone. Monsignor Elmer Holtman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Cyclone.
Mr. Holtman was born November 14, 1923 in Westphalia to Albert and Josephine Witzsche Holtman. He lived in the Westphalia and Airville communities all of his life. He graduated from Lott High School and married Marceline Zavodny on June 8, 1947. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and worked as a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Westphalia VFW Post 6117 and the Cyclone Knights of Columbus Council # 10191.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, Jimmy Holtman and Patrick Holtman, one brother, Monsignor Clyde Holtman and one sister, Madeline Schneider.
Memorials may be made to the Charity of Choice.
He is survived by two sons, Tommy Holtman and wife Donna of Pendleton and Bobby Holtman of Iola

Four Sisters: Grace Hoelscher of Westphalia, Joyce Greger of Lott, Evelyn Hoelscher of Waco, and Betty Ann Kleypas of Temple, One Brother, Monsignor Elmer Holtman of Burnet
11 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday with a Rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud
