Linda Lacy, 68, of Houston, formerly of Rosebud, died Monday, October 17, 2016, in a Houston Hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Rev. Alvin Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Bluebonnet Cemetery near Rosebud.
Miss Lacy was born January 16, 1948 in Rosebud. She graduated from Wilson White High School in Rosebud, Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins and received her Masters Degree from Texas Southern University. She taught at the North Forest Independent School District and Kirby Middle School for 39 years. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Rosebud at an early age and later St. Paul AME Church in Houston.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Johnson, father Edward Lacy Sr., two brothers, David Kelly and Charles Green, and sister, Charlotte Johnson.
She is survived by three brothers, Lindberg Johnson Jr. of Rosebud, Edward Lacy Jr. and wife Melissa, and Tommy Lacy both of Austin. Two sisters, Joyce Dunn and husband Jeremy, and Antoinette Haynes and husband Leon.
Three nieces, Patricia Johnson, Tina Murguia, and Ashley Johnson. Her Godmother, Essie Johnson Vernon, Nephews, Kentrell Bailey, Derryck Lane, Thaeon Green, Jamy Edward Lacy, Markel Myles Ross, and Jayden Haynes.
Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
