Robert Martin, 70, of Cego, died Sunday June 26, 2016, in a Dallas Hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Lott with John Michalak and Rev. Stephen James officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Private Burial will be at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Martin was born May 27, 1946 in Mineral Wells to George Lee and Cleora Annette Youngblood Martin. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School and Allen Military Academy in Bryan. He enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Special Operations in Vietnam. He graduated from Texas A&M University where he met the love of his life Marilyn Dominik and married on July 10, 1971.
He worked in retail sales and retired in 1995. He bought a farm in Cego, where he enjoyed gardening, tending to his peach orchard, baling hay, and feeding wildlife. He was happiest when he was driving his tractor in his overalls and straw hat and watching deer. His hobbies included golf, hunting, traveling, and Bible study.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lott where he taught Sunday School.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Step-Father, James Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Martin of Cego.
