Nelson L. Coker, 64, of Rosebud, died Friday, November 27, 2015, at his residence. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Rev. Lee Scott and John Minor officiating. Burial will follow in Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Coker was born April 17, 1951 in Rosebud to Clyde and Romalee Marek Coker. He graduated from Rosebud High School in 1969 and TSTC in Waco. He married Rhonda Fleming on July 26, 1969. He was a businessman, entrepreneur, rancher, and conservation contractor. He was currently the Falls County Precinct 3 Commissioner, a position he has held for the past 15 years. He also served on the Rosebud-Lott ISD school board for 16 years. He was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and adult Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda Coker of Rosebud
Two sons, Richard Coker and wife Jennifer of Midland and Russell Coker and wife Brenna of Houston. Two daughters, Yvonne Minor and husband John of Cedar Springs and Lisa Coker of Rosebud
Five brothers, Charlie Coker, Roy Coker, Eddie Coker, Ted Coker, and Calvin Coker all of Rosebud.
Five grandchildren, Brittany Lee Johnson, Alexandra Minor, Miles Minor, Maclane Minor, and Creed Nelson Coker.
Pallbearers will be Richard Coker, Russell Coker, John Minor, David Coker, Jody Patterson, Lee Patterson, Michael Coker, Roy Erwin, John Reagan, Richard Shelton, Richard Elliott, and Claud Jackson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Miles Minor, Maclane Minor, and Creed Nelson Coker.
