Funeral services for Mr. Tommie Lynn Gillen, age 69, of Cameron, will be held at 11:00 A M Thursday in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home with Reverend Drew Weber officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at the Liberty Cemetery near Milano. Mr. Gillen died Thursday September 10, 2015, in a San Antonio hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Gillen was born August 10, 1946, in Dayton, Texas to Tommie and Lila Harrell Gillen and was retired from the United States Army. Mr. Gillen was a graduate of Dayton High School in 1964 and graduated from Sam Houston State University and later got his masters degree from Stephen F. Austin. Mr. Gillen married Rita Stewart on December 22, 1968. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cameron and the Milano Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Gillen; one son, Stewart Lee Gillen and wife Lindsay, of Dripping Spring, Tx; one daughter Tia Lyn Beyers and husband, Gary, or Temple, Tx; and two sisters, Justina Thorton of Dayton, Tx and Lisa Maddux or Cleveland, Tx.
Family visitation will be held from 5-7 p m Wednesday at the Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.
