Vincent J. Tana passed away in the early morning on August 29, 2015. Mr. Tana was born in Washington, DC in 1919 to Frank and Gemma Tana. Mr. Tana was married to Marie Kasner of Westphalia, Texas in 1947. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Cecilia Tana of Westphalia and Margaret Tana and her husband Michael Dymek of Silver Spring, Maryland. He is preceded in death by two children, Charles and Loraine Tana.
Mr. Tana served in the National Guard until February 1941 when he was called to active duty with the 29th Infantry Division. In April 1942, Mr. Tana’s unit was transferred to the 37th Infantry Division. He served in the Pacific Theater and was discharged from the Army in 1946. Mr. Tana then joined the Army Reserve from which he retired in 1979 as a Sergeant Major. He was employed by the Washington Terminal Railroad and Amtrak for 52 years. Mr. Tana was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Knights of Columbus, the 29th Infantry Division Association, and the 37th Infantry Division Association.
Services will be held at the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia, Texas on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
