Robert “Bob” Edward Toy, Sr. of Marlin, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep at the VA Hospital in Waco, Texas on June 29, 2015 at the age of 70.



Bob was born on October 28, 1944 in Rosebud, Texas to Wilbert Edward “W.E.” Toy and Mary Kathryn Roberts. He attended Waco High School and Marlin High School and went on to enlist in The United States Navy where he faithfully served for 23 years retiring at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was well known for his medical skills as a FMF Hospital Corpsman and his service accomplishments include three tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was awarded a silver star, a bronze star, three purple hearts and several other awards and decorations. Bob also worked in security and retired from AAFES in Waco, Texas. He was a proud standing member of many military, charitable and Native American organizations and he spent his most recent years managing his own Private Investigative Agency, Ghost Dancer Investigations doing a job which he truly loved. His favorite charity was Toys for Tots which he promoted both while in the military and after his retirement. He enjoyed bass fishing and riding motorcycles. He was a loving father and cherished his family and friends.



Bob is preceded in death by both of his parents, W.E. and Mary Kate Toy.



Bob will be forever remembered with love by his wife of 39 years, Anne Marie Toy (nee Altmeier). They were married on November 19, 1975 in Amarillo, Texas and she spent more than half of her life with him. He will always hold a special place in her heart.



Bob is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law Tonette and Marvin Helton of Corsicana, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law Duana and Steven Mize, of Frankston, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law Bobbi-Anne and Barry Larson of Lorena, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law Robert E. Jr. and Minju Toy of Corpus Christi, Texas; his five grandchildren Neysa Toy, Jared Lawson, Melissa Mize, Robert E. Toy III and Joseph Toy; his sister Kathy Bledsoe (nee Toy) of Dallas, Texas; and numerous extended family members.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home located at 111 S. 2nd St. in Rosebud, Texas. Burial will follow with a military honor guard at Powers Chapel Cemetery. For more information, please call the funeral home at (254) 583-7812.
