Annie Sarah Futschik, 95, of Burlington, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in a Rosebud Nursing Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael’s Catholic in Burlington. Rev. James Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Burlington.
Mrs. Futschik was born December 27, 1919 in Rosebud to Ed and Annie Pretsch Olbrich. She lived in Burlington since 1924. She married Julius (Jake) Futschik on February 10, 1942. She began working in 1964 as a cook at Rosebud High School and retired after 22 years of service as cafeteria manager at Rosebud Primary School. She also cooked for the Rosebud Senior Citizens Center.
She was very active in her parish until she had to give up some things that were dear to her. Even as her health failed, she still managed to cook and provide meals to workers and numerous priests. She was President of St. Michael’s Altar Society for many years. She also served as Secretary for the St. Michael’s Cemetery Association.
Annie Sarah enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with her friends and in her younger years she enjoyed sewing and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son James Futschik, daughter in law, Lynn Futschik and great granddaughter Lauren Hicks.
She is survived by one daughter, Sarah Jo Vitek and husband Ted of Austin, two sons, Joe Futschik of Ansonia, CT and Tom Futschik and wife Evelyn of San Antonio. 10 grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister in law, Louise Olbrich of Rosebud.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
