A Memorial Mass will be recited for Paul Guy Dillon, 74, of Rosebud, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Burlington. Rev. James Robertson will officiate. A Private Family Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mr. Dillon died on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in a Waco Hospital.
He was born February 29, 1940 in Cameron to Paul S. and Clara Peevey Dillon. He graduated from St. Anthony Grammar School and C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron where he won numerous awards as a football player including Super CenTex and All State. He was twice named Junior College All American at Del Mar Junior College in Corpus Christi and graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. and M.Ed and lettered in football. He coached for 33 years at the following Schools: Monterey High School in Lubbock, Hondo High School,Levelland High School, Richard King High School in Corpus Christi, MacArthur High School in Irving, Humble High School, Klein Forest High School in Houston. After he retired from coaching, he moved to Rosebud where he raised Angus cattle on the Dillon family farm in Burlington. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Rosebud and Our Lady of Sorrows Knights of Columbus Council # 9743 in Rosebud.
He married Vera Ann” Siddy” Perrin in Cameron on May 30, 1964.
He was preceded in death by their beloved son-Matthew Byron Dillon, his parents and two brothers, John J. Dillon and Patrick L. Dillon.
He is survived by his wife, Siddy of Rosebud, Son, Michael Pearce Dillon and partner Jennifer Francino of New Orleans, LA and Burlington. Daughter, Mary Melinda “Mindy” Dillon, her husband, Paul Steinhofer and their children, Christian Matthew, Zachary Pearce, Samantha Alexandra, and Aurora Tru(Rory) of Oak Park, IL, Daughter, Melanie Ann Dillon, Her husband Jay DonFrancisco and their children, Evan Arthur and Mia Brynn of South Glastonbury, CT, Former daughter in law, Kimberly Davis Pruitt of Burlington, Sister, Dorothy Lindvall and husband Steve of Salem, Oregon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the : Matthew Byron Dillon Memorial Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Law at the University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas School of Law, 727 East Dean Keeton Street, Austin, TX 78705. Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud is in charge of arrangements.
