Florence Holland, 90, of Cedar Springs, Texas passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Lott, Texas at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 27 with the Reverend Stephen James officiating. Graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens located in Baytown, Texas at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 28.
Florence was born on July 25, 1924 in San Augustine, Texas to Feirdoon and Katherine Jackson. She married Mack Holland and was a welder on the Houston Ship Channel building ships for the war effort. Later they moved to Laredo where Mack served in the Army. After the war, she helped him establish Bayshore Construction which they ran until 1971. In retirement, she and Mack traveled extensively in their Airstream. She was a loyal member of Wooster Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas and First Baptist Church, Lott after her move to Cedar Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband Mack in 1984.
She is survived by her sons, Mack and his wife Sherri, of Liberty Hill, Texas: and Steve and his wife Marilyn of Cedar Spring, Texas: two granddaughters, Jenny Cowan and husband, Andy, and Maggie Holland of Waco, Texas. Katie and Lucy, her dogs, also survive her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to First Baptist Church, Lott, Texas.
