Robert Petrek, 94, of Barclay, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 in a Temple Nursing Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cyclone. Rev. James Robertson and Deacon Bill Smetana officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Cyclone.
Mr. Petrek was born December 2, 1919 in Oenaville to William and Margaret Raabe Petrek. He worked on the family farm and in his grand parents grocery store in the Ocker community prior to serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dorothy Marburger on June 30, 1953 and owned and operated a mechanic shop at Barclay until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cyclone. His hobbies included growing Irises and building Martin Birdhouses.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Petrek of Barclay
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
