Laura Lane Parks

Laura Lane Parks, 88, of Rosebud, passed away and her soul was reunited with her beloved Luther on Friday evening, May 30, 2014. She was born to Ernest and Jessie King on October 9, 1925 in Rosebud. Laura graduated from Rosebud High School. She attended Southwestern University in Georgetown and was a member of Phi Mu sorority.

In 1944 she married the love of her life, the late Luther Parks. They are survived by two daughters, Jo-Carol Fabianke and Kathy Clayton of San Antonio and Austin respectively; and two grandchildren Jason Fabianke and Leigh Ann Fabianke both of San Antonio. She also had five great-grandchildren.

Laura and Luther returned to Rosebud following his discharge from the service and remained in Rosebud. Laura’s interests and life were always more in others than in herself, both in caring for her family and in her work and service. She worked in several places in Rosebud over the years, including the Rosebud News, the hospital, and the schools. Laura was active in the First Baptist Church and in the Wednesday Study Club. Laura and Luther enjoyed many interests together, particularly in retirement.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud and Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church in Rosebud. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Restoration Rosebud in care of Marla Wallace, P.O. Box 595, Rosebud, Texas 76570.
