Funeral services for Mr. Wilmer Smith, age 92, of Groveton, and formerly of Milano, were held at 11:00 a m Tuesday in the First Baptist Church in Milano with Reverend David Barclay officiating. Burial followed in the Milano Cemetery. Mr. Smith died Saturday at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Smith was born February 7, 1921, in Haskell, Texas, to Elbert and Sylvie Mullins Smith, and was a retired farmer. He served in the United States Army in WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Smith and sons Cecil Ray and Rodney Clay Smith and a daughter Janelle Smith, Parents Elbert and Betty Hood Smith, sister Ollie “Sis” Cotten
and brothers Sam, Carlos, Jesse and Pete Smith.

Survivors include sons, Roger Dale Smith of  Mesquite, Terry Lee Smith of Gilmer, and David Eugene Smith of Abilene, daughters, Linda Wuensche of Taylor, Janette Doyle of Groveton, Wilma Joy Martinez of College Station, and Teresa Ann Smith of Groveton, brothers Junior Smith and J L Smith of Austin, and Johnny Smith of Dripping Springs, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great greatgrandchildren. Special nieces Linda Weinhold & Linda Pearl Cotton and special nephew James Perry Cotton.

Family visitation was held from 5-7 p m Monday at Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.
