Jesse Mendoza, age 69, of Killeen passed away peacefully on October 1, 2012 at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 2pm at St. Monica Catholic Church in Cameron, Texas. Mr. Mendoza will be laid to rest near his parents in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
He was born 28 November 1942, in Cameron, TX, the son of Encarnacion and Therese Mendoza. Graduating from Buckholts High School, he excelled in sports playing football, track and baseball. He loved all sports and taught his children to enjoy them as well.
He owned and operated an auto-body business in Killeen for more than 20 years. He loved cars, fishing, gambling, western movies, grandchildren and most of all he loved life. His true passion was being on Belton and Stillhouse lakes fishing for bass. Being competitive in nature enabled him to be a successful master at tournament fishing. He enjoyed living life to it’s fullest and did it “his” way.
He will be missed by his beloved children.
He is survived by his daughter Monique Mendoza of Kempner, sons Talmage of Harker Heights, James of Killeen, and Russell of Harker Heights, and daughter Natalie Hernandez of Round Rock; his brothers Manuel of Pettibone, Willie of Temple, Rubin of Buckholts, and his sisters Doris Lange of Holland and Gloria Soliz of Temple; five grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Texas.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday October 4, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Crawford and Bower Funeral Home.
