Martha Bozeman Royal, 97, of Rosebud died Saturday, June 2, 2012 in a Georgetown Nursing Center. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Rev. Wayne Stork officiating. Burial will follow in Powers Chapel Cemetery.
Martha was born in Baileyville, TX on August 2, 1914 to Joe and Clemmie Rast Bozeman. She earned her teaching degree at Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College at San Marcos (Now Texas State). She married Bruce Royal in Lockhart on June 28, 1935. They lived in several Texas towns as he pursued his career in theater management. In 1949 the family moved to Baileyville to take care of her aging parents and then moved to Rosebud in 1953.
It was then she began her teaching career in the Rosebud School District for over 30 years. In later years she was often approached by grown former students who always asked: “Hi, Mrs. Royal, do you remember me? I learned so much from you!”
Martha was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and caregiver-much loved by her family and friends. She was a member of the Wednesday Study Club, Falls County Retired Teachers and Heritage House Volunteers. She held several positions on the First United Methodist Church Board and was a member of the Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Mary Lynn Royal Michalk.
She is survived by her son Robert Royal and wife Ann of Austin
Three Grandsons: Derek Royal and wife Sophie of Lockhart, Dean Royal and wife Paige of Leander, Captain Charles Robert Michalk, USMC and wife Kristin of Oceanside, CA
One Granddaughter: Misty Lynn Slovacek of Rosebud
Eight Great Grandchilden and four Great Great Grandchildren
Pallbearers were Randy Burton, Ken Hensel, Ellison Burns, Charles Ellison, Carson Wallace and Ronnie Royal. Honorary Pallbearers were Jimmy Jackson and Tommy Sammon.
