Belton - Funeral services for Jerry Barton, 62, of Belton, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Belton with Rev. Darren Walker officiating under direction of Dossman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Mr. Barton passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at his home in Belton.

He was born October 10, 1949 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Clayton and Agnes Barton. Jerry married his wife, Libby Barton, July 21, 1973 in Fort Hood. He moved to Belton from Cameron in 1974 with his wife, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belton. Jerry was surrogate father for Cedar Crest, and a member of BC217 Sunday School Class. Never known as a stranger to anyone and a great story teller, Jerry was very active in the church and a avid hunter, but always made sure to spend more time with family.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Libby; one son, Jerrod Don Barton and wife Kristy of Copperas Cove; one daughter, Patience Barton Lange and husband Chris of Liberty Hill; one twin brother, Tommy Barton and wife Brenda of Cameron; three grandchildren, Autumn and Garrett Lange, Rawling Barton; and seven nieces and nephews, Melissa Meisner, Darren Watkins, Shannon Hodge, Heather Parker, Shane Phillips, Clay and Jason Barton

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Charter School, Cedar Crest Campus.

Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron is in charge of local arrangements.
