Douglas C. Black, 76, of Cameron, passed away July 23, 2011 in a Temple hospital. His wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held.
He was born Feb. 22, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to Thomas C. and Roberta A. (Miller) Black. Douglas was a good and faithful son, very supportive and loving brother and uncle. Doug graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, Texas, in 1952 and attended Texas A&M University. He then served honorably in the United States Air Force from February 1955 until December 1958. He worked for the Texas employment Commission for 27 years, retiring as a Claims Adjudicator.
Doug loved hunting, fishing, traveling, and western movies and books. He proved to be an able carpenter whenever and as often as his services were requested.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Thomas C. Black, mother, Roberta A. (Miller) Black, and his brother Dwayne A. Black.
He is survived by his sister, Myrna L. (Black) Rosser, four nieces: Tenise L. (Rosser) Pettigrew, Terrell L. (Rosser) Johnson, Tara L. (Rosser) Surface, and Jessica (Black) Dees. He is also survived by many dear cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
