Graveside Services for Mabel Evard Lawhon, 94, of Cameron, were held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Minerva Cemetery in Minerva, Texas with Rev. Doug Budd officiating. Ms. Lawhon passed away on June 18, 2011 in a Cameron nursing center.
Ms. Lawhon was born December 18, 1916 in Cameron, Texas to Sam and Maybell (Williams) Cobb. She lived her entire life in Milam County, graduated from C.H. Yoe High School in 1934, and attended Texas University for Women in Denton, Texas for two years and Southwest Texas State for one year.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cameron, a member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas William Barrett Travis Chapter #3 in Austin, Texas, was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Ms. Lawhon was the activities director at Cameron Nursing center for 8 years.
Ms. Lawhon was preceded in death by her husband John Wesley Lawhon, a son Samuel Ervin Lawhon and two sisters.

Son: John Thomas Lawhon of Cameron
4 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren
Visitation was held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
